Work Orders
A work order is an instruction to produce a finished good by consuming raw materials and components. It links to a Bill of Materials (BOM) that specifies what goes in and what comes out.
Work order statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Planned | Scheduled but not yet started |
| Released | Materials issued, production underway |
| In Progress | Active on the production floor |
| Completed | Production finished, goods received |
| Cancelled | Voided |
Creating a work order
- Go to Production and click + New work order
- Select the item to produce and the BOM to use
- Set the quantity to produce and the target facility
- Schedule start and end dates
- Release when ready
Issuing materials
When you release a work order, components are issued from inventory:
- Production Issue ledger entries are posted — one per component line
- Components move from Available to a WIP (Work in Progress) status
- On-hand Available stock for each component decreases
Receiving finished goods
When production completes:
- Click Complete on the work order
- Enter the actual quantity produced (may differ from planned due to yield loss)
- Post
A Production Receipt ledger entry is posted for the finished good, adding it to on-hand stock.
Yield and scrap
If actual output is less than planned, the difference is recorded as production scrap. The component consumption remains as issued — Atrope doesn’t automatically return unused components. If significant materials weren’t consumed, post a manual adjustment or a partial return.
