Units of Measure
Every item in Atrope has a base unit of measure (UOM) — the smallest unit in which it is tracked. All stock quantities, ledger entries, and reports use the base UOM.
UOM classes
UOMs are grouped by class:
| Class | Examples |
|---|---|
| Each | EA, PC, UNIT |
| Weight | KG, LB, G, OZ |
| Volume | L, ML, GAL, FL OZ |
| Length | M, CM, IN, FT |
| Area | SQ M, SQ FT |
| Time | HR, MIN |
| Pack | CASE, PALLET, CARTON |
Go to Settings → UOM to see all configured units grouped by class.
Adding a new UOM
- Click + Add UOM
- Enter the code (e.g.
CASE12) and full name (e.g.Case of 12) - Select the class
- Set the conversion factor relative to the base unit of that class
Conversions
If an item is ordered in cases but tracked in eaches, define a conversion:
1 CASE12 = 12 EA
When you receive 10 CASE12, Atrope converts to 120 EA in the ledger. Purchase order lines can use either UOM — the conversion is applied automatically.
Changing a UOM
Changing a UOM code or conversion factor after it has been used in transactions is not allowed — it would make historical ledger entries inaccurate. Instead, create a new UOM and retire the old one.
